The Providence Journal reports on Brett Smiley earning widespread support for his bid for Mayor of Providence and raising the most money out of declared candidates.

Providence mayoral candidate Brett Smiley raised $132,000 in the second quarter of the year and had more than $350,000 in the bank at the end of June, according to his most recent campaign finance report.

Smiley, a top aide to former Gov. Gina Raimondo before she took a job in President Joe Biden’s administration, was the first of the expected mayoral candidates to post second-quarter fundraising numbers that are due by the end of the day Monday.
