Efficient & Effective Government

Brett loves Providence and he believes that we can be the best-run city in the entire country by focusing on what matters - simple quality-of-life issues. That means better coordination across City departments and better vendor management, including roadwork and snow plowing. We need to get used to doing things the right way, the first time.

We cannot continue to pave our streets and rebuild our sidewalks, just to have them ripped up weeks later.

Brett believes that by holding these vendors and utility companies accountable with real financial penalties we can increase the life of our infrastructure and better coordinate utility work across Providence.

Better communication between residents, vendors and the City will allow for better city services in every single neighborhood.

Better communication requires increased transparency and digitization across departments to support residents and small businesses. Our business owners deserve the option of filing all of their documents and making payments online and having dedicated technical support in City Hall to help them with that process. This will require investments in our digital infrastructure and upgrades across systems, including PVD311, to ensure that we are developing the best possible customer experience and putting tax dollars to work for taxpayers.

City services are delivered in different ways, including the creation and care of our world-class parks and playgrounds. Brett believes that every family should be within walking distance of a clean park, an accessible playground and a modern recreation center that welcomes children of all ages. With a mayor that believes in clean, safe and inclusive recreational facilities and greenspaces we can improve public health, neighborhood resiliency and community engagement.

Due to long standing financial problems, and an unacceptably underfunded pension system, these quality-of-life issues keep getting kicked down the road. That stops now. Our local pension system must be addressed with a multi-step approach to finally put Providence on a path to success and ensure financial stability. As Mayor, Brett will use his public sector operational and financial experience as the City’s first ever Chief Operating Officer to make Providence the best-run city.
